STEP 2: Here are the core documents for property line plantings that will grow to over 3 feet tall at maturity, if applicable to your project, that you will need to submit with this type of application:
- Provide landscape plan, including layout, species, mature height (with photos if possible). Please note that perennial and annual flower planting do not require an application.
- Property line plantings when planted to create screening or hedge are limited to the same restrictions as fencing. None permitted in front yards, limited in rear yards and around pools, prohibited on water side properties.
- Small groups or individual plantings of trees or large shrubs near property lines are limited to canopy trees, evergreen trees or shrubs that do not overhang the property line when mature. Mature height:
- Shrubs and evergreens: 20 feet maximum in front yard, 20 feet maximum between houses; 20 feet rear yard; 4.5 feet water side
- Canopy Trees: no restrictions, except 25 foot set back to the trunk from the front property line. There may be consideration of unique restrictions on water side properties.
- Provide a to-scale property site plan locating proposed improvements and, when the proposed improvements are at or abut the property line, show the existing improvements (if any) found on the neighbors’ adjacent property.
- Unique existing conditions will be considered in final review.
- Provide photos of area to be modified.
