I would like you to consider increasing the number of people who can use the pool at one time and also the frequency in which reservations can be made each week. I would also like you to consider opening the pool at 11 am on weekends and 12 during the week.
Thank you for everything you do!June 23, 2020 at 1:00 am #7253
To our Board Members,
I would like to echo what Debbie and Sarah have said regarding the pool. The earlier hours would be much welcomed, as they allow those of us with young children to occupy those late morning/early afternoon hours. I confirmed with the guard that an hour is not needed to complete deep cleaning. I’m happy to continue to bring my Clorox wipes with me!
The current placement of the guard chair, while allowing for a 6ft buffet between the guard and the pool patrons, does not enable the guard to view the deep end and shallow end simultaneously. While I will continue to monitor my own children, I feel it would be safer for the guard to have a better vantage point. Could we move those loungers surrounding the old spot over to the new spot?
Our pool tends to be much quieter than neighboring pools, and I feel that increasing us to 50% capacity would prevent neighbors from having to rush to reserve a week in advance, for fear of not getting a spot.
I know this can’t be easy, and I appreciate your hard work and commitment to our community.

***BUFFER! Ugh. While a buffet sounds lovely, I’m sure it’s not COVID safe, and was most definitely an auto correct fail.June 23, 2020 at 2:07 pm #7255
I looked into going to the pool on Sunday afternoon, and when I walked by the pool, it had 16 ppl attending, at capacity, although, by my view, it looked pretty empty. Therefore, I did not even try to sign up on website, and was disappointed not to be able to go. I believe that Governor Hogan has stated that outdoor pools can hold 50% capacity, and he has been quite conservative in his public health recommendations. Please consider increasing the pool capacity to at least 25% so more neighbors can enjoy our beautiful amenities.
Thank you for all you do for our neighborhood.

Thank you for your comments in our FCF suggestion box. It is very important to the Board to hear from the community we serve, and appreciate your taking the time to write us.
We would like to assure you that the Board consulted with our pool committee, attorney, property management company, and several others to make both the decision to open at all, and to set the limit on number of swimmers per time slot. We carefully considered numerous factors and set out what we felt were prudent guidelines which you can see here (https://social.fishingcreekfarm.org/fcf-temporary-rules-for-use-of-the-pool/ ). Our primary goal was and is the safety of our residents, and collectively we decided to start with a limit that we felt was manageable, with the idea that as we gained experience with how the limit was being respected relative to social distancing we could revisit occupancy as we moved forward.
We invite you to participate in tonight’s BOD monthly videoconference meeting, open to all members of the FCF community, as this will be one of the items on our agenda.

As a community member with a young family, we would love to see the pool hours extended to open at 11 am on the weekends and 12pm on weekdays. Also, we would like to see the frequency of pool use to be increased to more than 4 times per week. With most summer camp programs closed or extremely restricted, being able to use the pool more frequently is the only outlet for the kids. We are also in favor of increasing the capacity of the pool to meets the regulations put forth by the governor. Thank you!

During our Board of Directors’ meeting on June 23rd, the Pool Committee gave the Board and community that joined in a full presentation of all of the considerations that went into setting the capacity for the pool, as well as the challenges of being able to even open the pool at all. Please click on the link below to watch that presentation. It is highly enlightening as to all of the issues that the committee faced, and the importance of following social distancing guidelines. It also covers their new recommendations to raise the capacity to 22 patrons starting on Friday the 26th.
