DESCRIPTION:Fourth of July Celebration!\nParade Led by Engine 8 – Followed by Lunch\nParade \nFestivities start at Noon in the Beachview Road Cul-de-Sac! \n\nMeet at 11:45 am – – parade begins at noon.\nBring your bike\, scooter\, trike\, wagon\, or motorized fun – – anything with wheels!  Add some patriotic flair with ribbons\, stickers\, and flags!\nWe remind all participants to take all reasonable precautions if they are unvaccinated.\n\nParade Route:  Engine 8 will meet us at Beachview at noon.  The parade will proceed onto Hidden River View and down Cherry Tree where it will end at the clubhouse for the FCF 4th of July Party! \nLunch and Pool Party – Tickets and Waivers are Required for Lunch \nFollowing the parade\, the celebration will continue with a pool party and lunch at the clubhouse. We’ll have Adams Ribs barbecue\, frozen margaritas and several desserts\, and ask that you please bring a side dish to share. \nThe cost for this event is $20 PER FAMILY\, no matter how many family members are attending\, but at check-out\, under “Additional Information”\, please let us know how many people will be attending. Thank you. \nPlease RSVP today so that we know that you are coming.  \nIf you have not yet filled out a waiver to use the FCF facilities\, access the Adult Waiver here and the Child Waiver here. \nPlease Note:  If only one lifeguard is available to us that day\, pool usage will be limited to 20 people in the pool at the same time. (This number does not include people on the deck.) DESCRIPTION:In 2019 we kicked off our very popular Sunset Fridays – a time for residents to stop at the clubhouse between 6-8 to socialize informally.  Our first Sunset Friday is Friday\, June 18th 6-8 p.m. The following will be on Friday\, July 2nd 6-8 p.m. (in time to kick off the holiday weekend). \nBring appetizers to share and your own beverage. The HOA provides the plates\, napkins and cups.  Given our past year of COVID restrictions and many new residents moving into the neighborhood\, this is a perfect opportunity to meet! If you have not already signed a 2021 waiver\, we will have waivers at the clubhouse to sign upon arrival. Contact Susan Magazine at 301-213-1799 or Susan@magazinefamily.org to join or learn more about the group. \n  \n  \n \n  \nA review by NPR\, Genevieve Valentine \nHardcover\, 352 pages \nIt sounds like propaganda meant to misdirect WWII Germans: a lone foreigner running riot in occupied France\, everywhere at once\, unrecognizable despite a trademark gait\, able to bewitch information out of anyone\, single-handedly stirring up resistance — and then vanishing. \nThe German secret police couldn’t even be sure what country she was from. It would be easy to believe the Limping Lady wasn’t real. \nBut she was. \nVirginia Hall was one of the earliest Special Operations Executive agents Britain sent into occupied France to stir up resistance against the Nazi/Vichy regime\, where she laid critical groundwork for an organized Resistance in southern France — and later led a cell herself. She isn’t totally unknown; there have been other biographies\, as well as a CIA training hall named in her honor and even a Drunk History sketch. But Sonia Purnell’s A Woman of No Importance is a gripping take\, tracing Hall’s life in the context of hurdles she faced from allies — as much as from enemies. \nShe was an unlikely choice for SOE field work; she was a woman\, she was American\, and she had a disability (a hunting accident left her with a wooden leg she called Cuthbert) that made her easy to identify.
